Assured Shorthold Tenancy
Hey everyone, I could use some advice! I’m currently renting under an Assured Shorthold Tenancy (AST), and I’m looking to move out in a couple of months. I’ve read a bit about how to properly end the tenancy, but there’s so much conflicting information out there. I don’t want to mess anything up and risk losing my deposit. Has anyone here gone through this process? What’s the best way to make sure everything is done legally and smoothly?

Yeah, I’ve been through this before, and I totally get how confusing it can be! The most important thing is to check your tenancy agreement first—some agreements require a two-month notice period, while others might have a break clause allowing you to leave earlier. You also need to put your notice in writing and make sure your landlord acknowledges it. Another thing to consider is arranging a final inspection. Make sure you leave the place clean and fix any minor damage to avoid deposit deductions.
Also, if you’re planning a move, finding a good removal service can make things way less stressful. If you’re relocating somewhere in Bolton, I’d recommend checking out this moving service. They’re reliable and handle everything from packing to transportation, which can be a lifesaver when juggling tenancy paperwork and moving at the same time. Just don’t forget to also update your address for bills and services before you go!
